Eye Combo | The Rule of Subtlety

I didn’t feature any eyeshadows that I’ve been wearing in my “What I’ve Been Wearing #1” post, and I have been wearing this combination a lot lately (truthfully, for the past three days!)

So, the two eyeshadows that I’ve been using are MAC’s “Soba” and theBalm’s Mary Loumanizer highlighter (breaking out of the box here…using it as eyeshadow).

Soba is the only MAC eyeshadow that I have, and (if I may say so myself) I am so glad that I picked this one. It is gold, but without being bold. That’s not really how I would describe it, but I just really wanted to have a “poet but I didn’t know it” kind of moment. Anyway, it’s a really pretty soft, yellow-y toned brown. The MAC website describes it as a “gold brown with gold shimmer”. It is also a satin finish. It looks really pretty and subtle as a crease color.

Second, I have been using theBalm’s Mary Loumanizer all over the lid. As you can see from the swatch above, it is a cross between a champagne and a gold. It’s shimmery, but not too shimmery. It’s pretty much my kind of color. It reminds me a bit of Stila’s Kitten eyeshadow (which I don’t have, but I may/may not have ordered it. It’s hard to tell).

There you have it! What kind of shadows do you wear a lot on a regular basis?

What I’ve Been Wearing #1

I’ve decided to give these posts an official name: What I’ve Been Wearing!
For base, I’m testing out a sample of the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation and so far I really, really, really like it. I’m not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing. I also used my tried and trusted Clinique Redness Solutions Powder and Bobbi Brown Touch Up Stick. I used NARS blush in Deep Throat and Jemma Kidd Dewy Glow in Rose Gold on my cheek bones. Oh! I hit pan on this!!!! Anyway, recently, I’ve been using a mixture of the two shadows, ebony and earth, from the Stila palette (just black and brown) on an angled brush and using it as liner (it’s the two shadows shown in the palette in this picture). Then, I used Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in Birthday Suit all over the lid and The Balm’s Mary Loumanizer on my inner corners. Just a quick swipe of L’Oreal Voluminous mascara, and that’s it!

What have you been wearing recently? Have you tried any of these products?

November Empties

Did you see that title? Another empties post! Unfortunately, there may not be another empties post for a while, though. This pretty much sums up the rest of my half full products, but just another month with some used up products!
Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula:
This think cream is perfect for dry, winter skin. It smells soooo good, like cookies. Plus, it’s pretty cheap so you never feel bad about the second (perhaps third) coat. If anyone asks, I’m just really dry…not obsessed with the smell or anything like that.

LUSH Massage Bar in Therapy:
Supposedly, this is supposed to be good for sore muscles, yet I’m not sure I bought into that. The smell was quite…medicinal (not something I’m a big fan of), but these massage bars are really, really moisturizing.

Dove Style+Care Hairspray:
Pretty much just a standard hairspray. This does smell really, really nice though.

Philosophy Pumpkin Spice Muffin:
Another Philosophy shower gel. These are really foamy and smell to-die-for. I’m already on my other one.

Gloss Moderne High Gloss Masque:
I used this as a conditioner and it is really amazing. It makes my hair shiny, soft, not to mention that you receive wafts of coconut throughout the day after use.

The Body Shop Argan Oil and Olive Scrub:
I’m just going to say this isn’t my favorite scrub. The smell wasn’t very nice and I thought the scrubbing particles (or whatever you want to call them) were too small.

Maybelline Full ‘ n Soft Mascara:
This was a really nice mascara, but I’ve found that, recently, I’ve been branching out from the very natural look, which this provides to a tee. Overall, this is a really great mascara, though.

Maybelline Great Lash Clear:
I use this as a brow gel, and I would say it’s pretty standard.

LUSH Sweetie Pie Shower Jelly:
The scent of this was a bit too sweet for me to love this, but I did like it. The formula was the only problem. I just wasn’t quite sure how to use it. I usually just would crush it up, but then half of it went flying down the drain. Whoops!

Kiehls’ Fig Leaf and Sage Shower Gel and Body Lotion:
The scent of this was not very good and the shower gel was average. Onto the body lotion, this made my skin insanely, insanely soft considering how light it was!

Phyto Ultra Nourishing Mask:
I guess reviewing this wouldn’t really be fair because I don’t think I used enough to see a difference.

Fresh Umbrian Clay Serum:
I used this once and didn’t really see a difference, but the smell was terrible so I couldn’t really get past that. Just wasn’t for me.

Phewwww. That was looongg. I need some replacements, so what are some of your favorite bath and body products?

Long Overdue | Stila In the Know Palette

Yes, the title pretty much explains it all…this is long loung (that was my attempt at some cool accent), overdue. I guess it’s fair to say my laziness got the best of me (or if my mom is reading this…my homework). I got this all the way back in August – August!! Yet, here she blows – strong like a bull.

Top Row (left to right):
air, wind, desert, clay, earth

Bottom Row (left to right):
driftwood, fire, rain, smoke, ebony

earth, clay, desert, wind, air

ebony, smoke, rain, fire, driftwood

Now, let me note some of my favorites, shall I…
Earth and Ebony
I have been using these mixed together on an angled brush to use as eyeliner and, so far, I have been really liking the way it looks! Earth alone is a bit too light. Ebony on it’s own is a bit too dark. And the perfect color is born!

Rain
This is probably my most used color in the palette. It is gorgeous in the crease for a little bit of definition, or pretty lightly dusted over the lid for a smoky eye. I’m not sure if they sell this shadow individually, but if they do…just guess what I’m going to say.

Overall, this palette *hands down* contains my most used eyeshadows. Do you have this palette? What are some of your favorite colors? Are there any other Stila shadows I should check out?

Dior Best in Show Lash Amplifying Duo | Review

The fact that this was on my wish list (and then bought it a day later) tells you something, eh?

With my lashes, the biggest problem I have is with volume, for my lashes are relatively long. For $20, you get a mini size of DiorShow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum (which is basically why bought this) and a DiorShow mascara.

The mascara is okay (for, it doesn’t give as much volume as Maybelline Full’n Soft, which I love) and it is more lengthening, but the real winner is the serum. I LOVE it! I’m not sure if it’s “holy grail”, but it’s pretty close. I have been using it everyday and it gives my lashes so much more volume, while still making my lashes not look clumpy or hard, just perfect.

Here’s a picture of the brushes. I’m not going to talk too much about the mascara, because I don’t really like it (by the way, it’s scented like the Dior perfume). The brush of the serum has many small bristles that work great at coating each and every lash completely with the perfect about of serum.

Overall, I think I’m in love…with this serum. I may just have to bring myself to by the full size…

Bits and Bobs Haul

I hope that you all had a relaxing weekend. Thankfully, the weather has gotten colder outside and (for some reason) I like to buy more things….forget that, I just like to buy things all the time.

Here are some things I have gotten recently (over about a month). I will do a review of some of the products, but if you would like to see a review of something in particular  just leave comment.

Kiehl’s Fig Leaf and Sage Body Wash and Lotion
Just a few samples some very nice lady gave me and my accompanier as we *tried* to act totally professional.

Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm
Review done here.

NARS blush in Outlaw
This was a total impulse buy, for I have been wanting Doucer foreva, but I had a 20% off coupon at Sephora and they didn’t have Doucer! My friend was also getting a NARS blush and she just made me want to get something with the packaging. This was part of the Autumn/Winter collection, so I figured the timing couldn’t be more perfect. Review coming soon!

Dior Best in Show Lash Amplifying Duo
I have been really wanting to try the Lash Plumping Serum, and I figured this could be the best way to try it while also getting a new mascara as well.

The Body Shop Morrocan Rose Body Mist
This was featured in my Rose Obsession post (which is linked here). If you like roses, you got to get this!

Philosophy’s Hot Buttered Rum Body Gel
I have run out of all of shower gel, and this just smelled so good! I have really been loving Philosophy products lately.

Yes to Carrots Nourishing Night Cream
I have been using this on my cheeks at night (as the name suggests), and I quite like it. Especially, since the weather is getting colder. If you have dry skin, you will really like this.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey
This was in my October favorites, but ever since then, I just haven’t been wearing it that much. We’ll see…

Rose Obsession

I used to hate *repeat* hate rose scented things. Don’t say I’m crazy, but now, I just can’t get enough! Here are my favorite rose products.

The Body Shop’s Moroccan Rose Body Mist
This scent was introduced to me by Elizabeth over at Wunderkind and the minute I smelled it, I just couldn’t get enough. I spray this on my clothes, hair, body, room, pretty much everywhere and probably more than I should. It is rosy, but it has a little bit of a musky undertone so it’s not too girly.

Korres Wild Rose Lip Butter
Smells like roses, looks really pretty, is really moisturizing, could you ask for anything more?

L’Occitaine Desert Rose Hand Cream
I’m rationing off every last bit of this, for it was limited edition, but it smells like roses and is super moisturizing.

Melvita Rose Water Mist
I like using this as a setting spray or as a mid-day refresher. I really want to try more Melvita stuff, but I have to get my skin under control first.

LUSH Turkish Delight Body Smoothie
Moisturizing (let’s not even go into the smell). Besides telling you that I really really want to buy the full size of this, I’m saving the sample container so I can open it and just smell it all the time. What else are you supposed to do with this?

Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector
I’m sure you guys are all probably desperately sick of hearing me talk about this, but the color is called rose shimmer (and I may or may not have just wanted to take a picture of the packaging again.

what are your favorite rose products?
