Autumn Makeup Edit for 2012

I know I’ve posted nearly a million wishlists and talked about all the products that I want to buy, but I wanted to take a moment and pinpoint the ones that I look forward to using A LOT this autumn. I love plums, browns, berries, and dusty rose colors for fall. First up, Revlon lip butter in Pink Truffle. It is the perfect pink-brown and looks natural yet makes a statement at the same time (okay, I really hope that makes sense). Anyway, I swatched it is this post, so check that out. Second, Clinique “almost lipstick” in Black Honey. I have raved about this product a lot. It is the perfect sheer, just bitten berry color. I also ADORE the Fresh Sugar lip balm in Honey. This is by far the most moisturizing lip product I have ever used and it is perfect when your lips are dying for a little TLC. It is a really pretty my-lips-but-better shade that pretty much suits everyone.

Onto things other than lip products…I recently bought the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed and I love it. It just looks so natural, yet sculpting on the cheeks. Not to mention is the perfect plumy-brown color. Note-for those of you who can understand my color descriptions, a round of applause goes to you. It means you are just as obsessive as I am. CONGRATS! Anyway, you can check out a swatch of it here because I did a whole post about it. Next is my new eyeshadow-Soba by MAC. I will be completely honest here, I have worn in for the past two weeks straight. I think it deserves its own review, so just keep a lookout for that. Lastly, Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in Birthday Suit. This is such a pretty natural cream shadow with just a hint of iridescence. It is super pretty-think a very wearable gold, but flesh color. Okay, now I’m just not making sense.

Au Natural Joue avec Tarte Exposed

Oh yeah, people! Just practicing my French. If you’re wondering what’s with all the product reviews, it’s just because I’m in that kind of mood. Anyway, let’s get on with it shall we?

You all know about how I’m always talking about “natural” this and “natural” that. Well, this pretty much is the definition of my infinite amount of descriptions. *ENTER* Tarte Amazonian Blush in Exposed! This blush delivers the prettiest, natural flush. It is quite subtle….but my gosh, is it a beute?

The swatch above is pretty heavy, so it really is pretty natural. I think this is the perfect blush for Autumn, don’t you?

September Step In

It’s the beginning of September…right? Well, even if you don’t think so, just pretend so until you finish reading this post. Okay, now onto dream world. Here are some of the hues, shades, pigments, scents, looks, etc. that I am most looking forward to for September (or for the rest of it. But wait, we are in dream mode remember?). Recently I’ve been having this huge (I mean like…massive) spending urge, which is so unlike me, but oh well. I’ve already bought a few things so  there will definitely a recent beauty buys post as soon as the stuff comes in. xo

A Hint of Spice + Shimmer

Sorry for the absense, but things have been kind of crazy…including my allergies. Although this is true, it is also a true sign that fall is coming. With that being said, how about a fall inspired look with hints of golden nutmeg tones and berry tinted lips. Oh, and I promise this isn’t a recipe.

Get that crisp liner look by using Eyeko’s skinny liquid liner. It’s felt tip makes liquid liner applicable for everyone. Using a gold shimmery shadow all over and under the lid and eye, blend it in with a hint of a rose gold, nutmeg shimmer shadow as well. For the cheeks, skip blush and just use a golden highlighter for that dewy hint on the cheek bone blending down. Last, finish with a chocolate brown lip color with a hint of rose and burnt orange.

Fall Beauty Trends / THE BOLD BROW

Next up, THE BOLD BROW / statement eyebrows.

My thoughts have changed over the years, but now, I think that one of the prettiest things of a woman’s face is a natural brow, not too sparse and not too thin. Luckily, this fall, I will be able to enhance my natural (even though it may be hard) brows with just a touch of pencil or shadow.First, note that the strong, graphic brow looks the best when the rest of your makeup is played down. When forming the brow, use your natural shape as a guideline, slowly filling it in and expanding with soft, small strokes of a brow liner or shadow, increasing the strength and darkness. For the rest of the eyes, use a bronze cream shadow worked into a simple round shape following the rest of the eye. I like to add a bit underneath the eye as well to add a soft, smoky essence. Add a bit fo contouring and a hint of blush, finished off by a pale lip. Add plenty of mascara and curling so that the look doesn’t come off as too masculine.

Fall Beauty Trends / THE DARK VELVET LIP

As you have probably concluded by now, this falls trends include a seamless mixture of bold and natural, but this one is definitely one of the more attention catching ones, THE DARK VELVET LIP / a new take on gothic.

First, most importantly, for this look, adding the bold lip to a much more natural look is key for wearability. Lisa added the lip to the previous look (the sculpted eye) but you could add it to your everyday makeup or to one of the more natural looks for fall’s trends. For the lip, start with a very dark, red wine shade all over the lips (Lisa used NARS’ scarlet empress lipstick), following your natural shape. Then, go in with a lip liner the same color as the lipstick to add longevity and increase intensity. An optional step, use black liner on the outside corners of the lip to really help definite the gradual shades of color. Finish with a bright pop of cherry red lipstick in the center of the lips, then blend to make the look cohesive.
