Autumn Makeup Edit for 2012

I know I’ve posted nearly a million wishlists and talked about all the products that I want to buy, but I wanted to take a moment and pinpoint the ones that I look forward to using A LOT this autumn. I love plums, browns, berries, and dusty rose colors for fall. First up, Revlon lip butter in Pink Truffle. It is the perfect pink-brown and looks natural yet makes a statement at the same time (okay, I really hope that makes sense). Anyway, I swatched it is this post, so check that out. Second, Clinique “almost lipstick” in Black Honey. I have raved about this product a lot. It is the perfect sheer, just bitten berry color. I also ADORE the Fresh Sugar lip balm in Honey. This is by far the most moisturizing lip product I have ever used and it is perfect when your lips are dying for a little TLC. It is a really pretty my-lips-but-better shade that pretty much suits everyone.

Onto things other than lip products…I recently bought the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed and I love it. It just looks so natural, yet sculpting on the cheeks. Not to mention is the perfect plumy-brown color. Note-for those of you who can understand my color descriptions, a round of applause goes to you. It means you are just as obsessive as I am. CONGRATS! Anyway, you can check out a swatch of it here because I did a whole post about it. Next is my new eyeshadow-Soba by MAC. I will be completely honest here, I have worn in for the past two weeks straight. I think it deserves its own review, so just keep a lookout for that. Lastly, Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in Birthday Suit. This is such a pretty natural cream shadow with just a hint of iridescence. It is super pretty-think a very wearable gold, but flesh color. Okay, now I’m just not making sense.

September Step In

It’s the beginning of September…right? Well, even if you don’t think so, just pretend so until you finish reading this post. Okay, now onto dream world. Here are some of the hues, shades, pigments, scents, looks, etc. that I am most looking forward to for September (or for the rest of it. But wait, we are in dream mode remember?). Recently I’ve been having this huge (I mean like…massive) spending urge, which is so unlike me, but oh well. I’ve already bought a few things so  there will definitely a recent beauty buys post as soon as the stuff comes in. xo

Get Glowing / Highlighter Comparison

With so many different kinds of highlighters out there, it’s hard to figure out which one to use. This post, a request, in fact, will show you the ropes on some of the industry’s most well known. I hope you enjoy and get glowing!
Highlighter Comparison

Benefit Girl Meets Pearl / a new purchase of mine, this peachy pink highlighter is one of the more natural ones. The liquid and gel like consistency makes it easy to blend and easy to use. I love the golden pink shimmer that this highlighter gives while still looking natural and not greasy. This color pretty much looks good on all skin tones.
MAC Soft and Gentle / a favorite of my best friend and fellow blogger, this highlighter is a soft golden cream shimmer that comes in powder form and is easily blend-able. It is also build-able and gives that nice “soft and gentle” glow.
NARS Albatross / this also powdered highlighter adds that nice natural glow without any other added color or effect. Not glittery or sparkly at all (as is the case for the other highlighters), although this one is white, it does not make you look ashy, but it still would look better on lighter skin tones.
*disclaimer: i have not tried any other highlighters except the Benefit one. I created this post through much research and personal opinions.

July Favorites

I’m so sad that July is over and that the start of school is just around the corner, but I am also excited because August is my birthday month and is the start of ballet classes (except for the fact that I am not allowed to dance for August…anyway). Although I had been very busy with ABT summer intensive and all, I did make time to have some new favorites. Here they are and happy August, everyone!
July Favorites
1 / St. Ives Apricot Scrub I picked this up in a travel size just to try it because I really needed a face scrub. I had heard so many good things about it and I am now a true advocate. They sandy like texture and yummy scent scrub away all my black heads and leave my skin feeling ridiculously soft and smooth. Available @ drugstore.
2 / Girl Meets Pearl I have been wanting this product for a while now and I am so glad that I tried it. It gives the most perfect subtle hint of pink while reflecting the light perfectly. I am very, very pleased with this highlighter and it is now one of my absolute favorite products…ever! Available here.
3 / Smart Water I must admit, when your dancing all day, the last thing that is on your mine is the water you drink, as long as it’s there. Luckily, Smart Water has added electrolights to increase hydration without feeling bloated and tastes so much better than regular water.
4 / Clinique Redness Solutions Pressed Powder I raved about this powder in this post and here I am raving about it again. Enough said…. Available here.
5 / Emotional Brilliance LUSH Again, I talked about the line here, but it blew my mind so much that I just had to talk about it again. The colors are highly pigmented and so versatile, oh yeah, and natural. Available here.
6 / Melvita Floral Rose Water I own the Evian Facial Mist, but I like this one much better. The rose scent is so sophisticated and I just can’t get enough. I plan on buying the full size or there may be a little bit of DIY involved. You can read more about it here.
7 / Clinique Black Honey A classic that I have been dying to try. At first I bought the same product in Lovely Honey in fear that the Black Honey would be too dark. It wasn’t until last week that I realized that I seriously needed a dark lip product and I knew that this was the answer. Seriously amazing! Available here.
